Chasuble Back, early 18th century (CH 18424531-2)
Summary
Shaped panel with a large-scale vertical turnover repeat of multicolored flowers, leaves, garlands, and shells that flank symmetrically an oversize bunch of pale strawberries. Multicolored patterning and silver-white ground brocaded on a foundation of sky blue silk gros de tours (ribbed tabby) which shows through as an elaborate lobed outline.
