William Swan, commanding officer of the Death Rattlers of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 323, stand at attention as the VMFA-323 Honor Guard parades the colors during a ceremony in celebration of the 235th Marine Corps birthday in the hangar bay aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan. Amos joined the VMFA-323 Marines aboard Ronald Reagan for the day to speak during the ceremony, which included the traditional cake-cutting, and a reading of the first Marine Corps birthday message from the 13th Marine Corps Commandant Gen. John A. Lejeune, originally published on Nov. 1, 1921. VMFA-323 is currently embarked aboard Ronald Reagan completing a Composite Training Unit Exercise in preparation for an upcoming deployment.
