CHITTAGONG, Bangladesh (Sep. 20, 2011) Capt. Wallace Lovely, deputy commodore of Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 31, welcomes Bangladesh navy sailors aboard the mine countermeasures ship USS Defender (MCM 2) for a mine countermeasures subject matter expert exchange as part of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Bangladesh 2011. CARAT is a series of bilateral exercises held annually in Southeast Asia to strengthen relationships and enhance force readiness. Bangladesh is participating in this exercise for the first time.
