SAN DIEGO (Feb. 03, 2015) Capt. Jose A. Acosta commanding officer of Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD), donates blood at NMCSD's Blood Donor Center. Acosta has been challenged by the commanding officer at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth to a friendly blood drive challenge with the goal of raising awareness about the continuous need for blood donations. NMCSD is working to meet the challenge by setting up blood drives at Navy and Marine Corps installations throughout San Diego County.
