Follow on from Bullock No. I ( nlireland/6271788935/in/photostream/ ) . This shot was taken looking down from the steamer Dún Aengus as the bullock's "swim" was almost finished...Inisheer islanders bringing a bullock out to the Dublin built steamer, the Dún Aengus, on 31 May 1939 for transport to Galway. This is how livestock had to be transported from the island between 1921 and 1958 until a pier was built on Inisheer (Inis Oírr) in 1997...Date: 31 May 1939..NLI Ref.: INDH3343 ( vtls000250748 )
