Robert Vonnoh (1858–1933) was an American Impressionist painter known for his landscapes, portraits and genre scenes. He studied at the Académie Julian in Paris and was influenced by the work of the French Impressionists. Vonnoh's paintings often depicted the beauty of rural life, capturing the effects of light and atmosphere on the natural world. He was also a respected teacher, teaching at the Art Students League of New York and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Vonnoh's work is in many public collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Art Institute of Chicago.
