Beatrix Farrand Garden Paths - Public domain drawing

Bellefield. Circulation was a strong component of the design of Beatrix Farrand's Formal Garden. While her plan has not been found, photos show a rectilinear path system. The layout of the gardens and paths create an elongating effect, drawing the visitor towards the garden gate in the hemlock hedge. The garden was laid out in 1911 by landscape designer Beatrix Farrand.
