Worker pours concrete to form the approach apron footing and header as part of the FHWA, Highways for LIFE supported Wisconsin DOT demonstration project on use of innovative technologies on WIS 25 between Nelson, WI and Wabasha, MN. An innovative design feature included having the bridge deck expansion joints relocated away from the deck to specially designed approach aprons and using high-strength stainless steel reinforcing bars between the approach apron and the abutment.
