Summary
Allegory with three groups of worshippers; in the left foreground a three-headed monster wearing two crowns and a tiara, holding an open book and preaching to a group of simple people, in the right middle ground an altar with a nude winged woman, holding in her right hand a crown and in the left money, wearing around her neck a money bag, the altar surrounded by clerics and richly dressed people, in the background a column with a nude old man, whose right arms ends in a bare tree branch and the left arm in three weapons, this idol is surrounded by Catholic Clerics, in the far background scenes of violence, murder, war, and torture; one of forty-eight woodcuts of the incomplete set 'Apocalypse and Satirical Allegories on the Church', without text or title-page, bound in one volume (BM 1911-7-8-103 to 150). 1544-1558
