Andrew Jackson (1845) - Public domain portrait painting
Summary
Andrew Jackson (1845). Thomas Sully (English-born American, 1783-1872). Oil on canvas. Corcoran Gallery of Art. In 1824 Sully painted a study portrait from life of Jackson. The hero of the Battle of New Orleans was by then a U.S. senator and a Democratic nominee for president. Jackson’s ill health prompted Sully to copy his 1824 portrait, completed shortly before Jackson’s death in April 1845. Sully used the replica as a model to create this full-length portrait of Jackson as the battle (Text from Pinterest https://www.pinterest.com/pin/145874475404962933)
