At sea aboard USS Abraham Lincoln An F/A-18C "Hornet" assigned to the Fist of the Fleet of Strike Fighter Squadron Two Five (VFA-25), makes an arrested landing aboard the aircraft carrier. Approaching at around 135 knots, the pilot is aiming for the number #3 wire of four in an 80-foot patch of flight deck. Lincoln and its embarked Carrier Air Wing One Four (CVW-14) are conducting combat missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Southern Watch. The first aircraft carrier commissioned into the United States Navy was USS Langley (CV-1) on 20 March 1922.
