Aft Look out communicates on sound-powered phone with the ship's bridge.
Summary
At sea aboard USS Nimitz Seaman Rachelle Mack from Teaneck, N.J., communicates on sound-powered phone with the ships navigational bridge as the Aft Lookout watch. Lookout watches scan the ocean for any activity in the vicinity of the ship 24 hours a day while the ship is at sea. These watches play a critical role in the spotting personnel who have fallen overboard while the ship is underway. Nimitz is undergoing Tailored Ships Training Availability (TSTA) operations Two and Three off the California coast, designed to help integrate the ship and embarked air wing while preparing for future deployments.
