Summary

PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (Mar. 21, 2008) Adm. Robert F. Willard, commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, thanks Seabees from Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit 303 for refurbishing the Nimitz garden at 37 Makalapa Drive in Pearl Harbor. The Seabees installed a concrete bird bath at 37 Makalapa Drive in Pearl Harbor. The historic artifact was moved from Nimitz' residence on Yerba Buena Island in San Francisco Bay, Calif, where the former Pacific Fleet commander lived from 1964 until his death Feb. 20, 1966, to Pearl Harbor, where Nimitz lived from December 1941 to November 1945. The Hawaii-based Seabees worked with the 30th Naval Construction Regiment based in Port Hueneme, Calif., to move the bird bath to its new home.
