Acquiring satellite signal for secure communications
Summary
Staff Sgt. Jon Van Osdell, radio frequency journeyman from the 236th Combat Communications Squadron of the Louisiana Air National Guard, configures an antenna to acquire a satellite signal for secure voice and data communications for an exercise called New Horizons. New Horizons is led by U.S. Southern Command and provides medical and dental treatment, as well as constructs school structures throughout Belize. It gives U.S., Belizean and Canadian service members the opportunity to train side-by-side in an exercise setting, in order to be prepared to meet future challenges when and where needed.
