A procession of dignitaries moves toward the Riga Brethren Cemetery's Altar of Eternal Fire for the wreath laying ceremony during the “Victory in Europe Day” event held in Latvia, May 8. Attendees of the event, which commemorates the victims of World War II, included the the President of Latvia Andris Berziņs and the commander and senior enlisted advisor from 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division out of Fort Stewart, Ga. U.S. Soldiers are currently in Latvia as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve, an ongoing multinational partnership focused on joint training and security cooperation between the U.S. and other NATO allies.
