The importance to practical surgeons of being able toexactly localize the position of such an object as a bulletcannot be overestimated. The stereoscopic method also gives much help in locali-zation ; two negatives are taken by the above methodand then examined in a Wheatstone stereoscope. If theorgans of the body with their bloodvessels injected bephotographed and examined by this method the effectsare very beautiful, particularly in the case of the brain,heart, and kidneys. Dr. Davidson has taken a furtherstage in perfecting a stereoscopic fluoroscope. The rays traverse the thorax more easily than the neckor abdomen; it is difficult to obtain sharp shadowsthrough the abdomen, probably because of the scatteringthe rays undergo in penetrating so much soft structure.
