Summary

A Dordrecht kaag in the Texel
This painting has a previously title of 'A Barge on the Texel'. (It may be inscribed on the back, which remains to be checked as does the apparently inscribed date, since not on the image.) Assuming the location is correct it is more accurately described as showing a kaag (a standard Dutch passage or cargo vessel) in the Texel passage between the Zuyder Zee (now the Ijsselmeer) and the North Sea, 'Dort' (the abbreviation for Dordrecht) is painted on the sail suggesting it is a passage boat from that city. Another kaag behind has '60' painted on its sail and similar craft fill the background. A small fishing boat in the foreground appears to have a net out, or may be taking passengers to the kaag. The fact that it is loosely done may indicate it was a study on the spot in Holland, though the careful composition is more like studio work.

An excellent example of GetArchive image recognition capabilities - is quite a large Fishing Boat collection. A fishing boat is a marine vessel designed specifically for fishers. They are equipped with features that make fishing easier and more efficient. Fishing boats come in a huge range of sizes, and shapes.
