A 2 Pounder anti-tank gun being fired by men of the Free French fighting with British units in the Western Desert, c 1942. It was during the desert campaign of 1941-1942 that the weaknesses of the 2 pounder became obvious, in particular its high profile which made it difficult to conceal.
