Summary

An AGIP station at Mille Miglia race on 4 May 1952. None of these three cars that bought gas at this gas station finished this race![1] At right, entry #541 is the 1949 Ferrari 166 SC s/n 0012M driven by owner Ottavio Guarducci and co-driver Aldo del Bianco[2]. In the centre, entry #512 is a Lancia Aurelia B20 GT driven by Giancarlo Scotti and Gianfranco Pieratelli. At left, in the back, a Frazer-Nash Le Mans replica driven by Sergio Mantovani and Signore Callerio.

It was first held in 1927 and ran until 1957, covering a distance of 1,000 miles (hence the name) from Brescia to Rome and back. The race was renowned for its challenging route through the Italian countryside and for attracting some of the world's most famous drivers and cars. The Mille Miglia was suspended in 1957 after a tragic accident in which several people were killed, but was revived in 1977 as a classic car rally. Today, the Mille Miglia is a highly prestigious event that attracts vintage car enthusiasts from all over the world. The route has been modified to ensure the safety of participants and spectators, but the spirit of the race remains the same, celebrating the beauty and history of classic cars and the thrill of driving them on open roads.
