Summary

150430-N-IS182-048 NORFOLK, Virginia (April 30, 2015) Adm. Phil Davidson, commander, USFF command and family members of the late John D. Choplinsky unveil a dedication plaque for Choplinsky, a former USFF staff member and civil service member, aboard Naval Support Activity-Hampton Roads (NSA-HR), April 30. USFF decided to name the auditorium after Choplinsky due to his tireless devotion and service to the fleet. Choplinsky began his career in the Federal Service as a civilian employee with the U.S. Navy at Naval Air Station Oceana in 1971 and later, Commander-In-Chief U.S. Atlantic Fleet (CINCLANT FLT), Norfolk, Va., as the U.S. Fleet Forces Deputy Fleet Comptroller until 2013, when he accepted a role on a special financial project with the U.S. Navy. He received many awards throughout his career but was especially proud and humbled when he was presented the Navy's Distinguished Civilian Service Award in 2011.
