Summary
Second Battle of Tabasco: On 14-16 June 1847, a landing force of 1,100 sailors and Marines under Commodore M.C. Perry conducted the second expedition against Tobasco, Mexico. The party was towed up Tobasco River by steam vessels past defensive batteries. They captured and destroyed the earthworks. A garrison force left in Tobasco defended the city against counterattack on 24 June. The capture of the city of Tabasco, by the U.S. naval expedition, afloat and on shore, under Comdre. Perry.
