etabo-hsm, calcium salts may be dissolved outto be redeposited in distant tissues. Thisprocess of redeposition may take place inthe lungs to a greater or less extent, some-times to an extreme extent. At autopsy thelungs may be found of a stiff woody tex-ture owing to the thorough infiltration bycalcium. Such lungs are not the subject ofeither mahgnant or bacterial disease, andwhile the process is known as a calciummetastasis it is obviously not a secondarytransplantation of a disease. The import-ance of the condition in roentgen diagnos-tics lies in ready detection of calcium de-posits in lung tissue and in the indicationof serious bone disease somewhere in thebody. In one case of pulmonary calcium metas-tasis illustrated in this paper the bone dis-ease was metastatic, the primary affectionbeing a carcinoma of the prostate, so thatthe lung conditions were the third remove.The patient had a cough with a scantyexpectoration which was intermittentlyblood stained but contained no tubercle
