Geoff Charles war ein Fotoreporter, der über 50 Jahre lang mit seiner Kamera Bilder von Wales aufnahm. Seit den 1930er Jahren arbeitete er ausgiebig in Nord- und Mittelwales für Zeitungen wie The Wrexham Star, The Montgomeryshire Express und Y Cymro. Nach seiner Pensionierung 1975 übergab er seine Sammlung von etwa 120.000 Negativen der walisischen Nationalbibliothek. Die Arbeit an der Digitalisierung dieser enormen Sammlung begann im Jahr 2000, und derzeit sind etwas mehr als 30.000 seiner Bilder aus Wales in den 1940er, 1950er und 1960er Jahren auf der Website der Nationalbibliothek abrufbar.
