ich may lead to serious errors inprognosis if full consideration is not given to all the facts of the case. Otherforms of pneumonia may lead to difficulty in diagnosis, and it must beremembered that a patient suffering from primary or recurrent cancer is ina debilitated state of health, and in consequence rather prone to developbroncho-pneumonia. This may be a terminal stage of the disease, even whenrecurrence has located itself in the lung ; the apparent extent of the mischiefmay be greatly exaggerated by a concurrent attack of broncho-pne.um.onia..When radiographs of such a condition are taken, a grave error in prognosismay be made if a large shadow in the lung substance is mistaken for a malig-nant deposit; further, the subsequent resolution of a pneumonic processmay give the impression of an improvement in the condition of the patient,and a subsequent shrinkage of the shadow may lead to the erroneous con-clusion that the tumour itself is disappearing.
