nces. No history of ex-posure to scarlet fever. When examined by me I found no evidences of scarletfever. The throat was somewhat congested, but had no patches, nor was there anyevidences of necrotic membrane visible in any portion of the throat. The lymphaticglands of the neck were not enlarged. The urine was very scanty and containedmore than 50 per cent, by volume of albumin. Blood was also present in largequantity. Tliere were also hyaline, epithelial, and granular casts present when adrop was examined under the microscope. The childs urine was greatly diminished in quantity, hardly a tablespoonfulbeing passed at one sitting. Diuretin and citrate of potash act^d very well asdiuretics, and later the secretion of urine was normal in both qualitj^ and quantity. At times it seemed as though the urine consisted of pure blood. Later the childdeveloped an otitis media, which was preceded by a rise in temperature. The childmade a good convalescence and is perfectly ivell to-day. PLATE XXIX
