We havenot yet been able to make the tree fully accessible to thepublic, as the corridor in which it stands is occupied by theCollege geological department. Coral Cases. About eight years ago we cleaned, identifiedand completely re-installed the corals, sea fans and sponges inthe Tankerville Collection at the south end of the zoologyroom. Since then the wall-cases containing the collection hadbecome very dusty and dirty—more so than they ought to havedone. We have now had to clean the cases and specimensagain, and at the same time we had the cases examined to findout where they were defective. As a result we have had thedoors taken off and fitted with fresh arrangements for trappingdust, and we hope the worst of the trouble is remedied.Nearly all the wall-cases in the room are in need of similartreatment, but it has not been possible, with the funds at ourdisposal, to deal with more of them at present. REPORT ON MUSEUM WORK xll Minerals. The main work during the past year has been themaking of a systematic reference catalogue of the collection,taken case by case ; and much miscellaneous work has alsobeen done, including the mounting of special specimens insuch ways as to show them off to the best advantage. Raine Collection of Birds^ Eggs. Miss Scott has beenworking through this fine collection, replacing the cotton woolwhere necessary and dealing with any signs of mould. Photography. We have made a good deal of use of thecamera during the year. We prepared a number of lanternslides to illustrate lectures, took a series of photographs forthe purpose of a paper in the Transactions, and used thecamera and other parts of our outfit for a variety of otherpurposes. Wild Floivers. We expected to find great difficulty inkeeping up a good show of fresh wild flowers this summer,but after the first few weeks we were able to make at least asgood a display as we had ever done before.
