ber of drawings to determine the proper proportions.From one of these drawings a paper pattern was made and alight cardboard shade with tissue paper in place of glass,constructed with the proper dimensions. In order to studythe appearance of this in place it was drawn up into thearch by a wire and its proportions studied from below. A fewminor changes in the dimensions were decided upon and fourother shades constructed of heavy cardboard with dark greenart glass in the sides. The drawings on pages 12 and 13 showthe dimensions used. Brass paper fasteners with round headswere used as rivets. A galvanized sheet iron form was rivetedtogether and hooks for the supporting chains fastened tothis. This form fitted into the top of the cardboard shadeand supported the heavy glass reflector and lamp thatactually gave the distribution desired. From a study of various catalogs the Helmetreflector No.755 made by The National X-Ray Reflector Com-pany of Chicago was decided to be the best one for the
