Henry Moret was a French Impressionist painter who was born on 12 December 1856 in Cherbourg, France. He studied under Jean-Léon Gérôme at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Moret was known for his landscape paintings, which were strongly influenced by the Impressionist movement. He often painted scenes of the Brittany coast, where he spent much of his life. Moret was a member of the Société des Artistes Indépendants and exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon d'Automne. He died in Paris on 5 May 1913.

French Impressionist painter. He was one of the artists associated with Paul Gauguin at Pont-Aven in Brittany. He is best known for his involvement in the Pont-Aven artists' colony and his colourful landscapes of the Brittany coast.
