Zusammenfassung
Westinghouse Electric Corporation stellt auf der Kolumbianischen Weltausstellung (Weltausstellung) 1893 in Chicago, Illinois, USA Elektromotoren aus, die auf Nikola Teslas Patent gebaut wurden, und demonstriert, wie sie funktionieren. Ebenfalls ausgestellt (vorne, Mitte) sind frühe Tesla-Spulen und Teile seiner Hochfrequenz-Lichtmaschine. Das Bild stammt aus Thomas Commerford Martins 1894 erschienenem Buch The Inventions, Research and Writings of Nikola Tesla (Erfindungen, Forschungen und Schriften von Nikola Tesla), das so beschriftet ist, dass sie im Text erklärt werden können.
Nikola Tesla (1856–1943) Serbian American inventor and engineer who discovered and patented the rotating magnetic field, the basis of most alternating-current machinery. He also developed the three-phase system of electric power transmission. He immigrated to the United States in 1884 and sold the patent rights to his system of alternating-current dynamos, transformers, and motors to George Westinghouse.
