268 Vict. Nat.—Vol. 85 When W. Lloyd Williams waselected Presdent of the F.N.C.V., wewho knew him knew he would notonly exemplify the best traditions ofthe club, but also bring to the presi-dency special qualities of his own. This made it all the more distressingwhen the progressive effects of mul-tiple sclerosis made it necessary forhim to resign a few months later, andended in his death on July 8th. It is little over six months since, after speaking briefly of the inexorableprogress of the disease, he wrote tome, I am a little sad, but not peeved—for I have had a wonderfully happyand enjoyable life. Those who give most receive most, and Mr. Williams gave more to lifethan most of us. It is a misfortunefor many that he was not presidentlong enough to enable most membersof the club to know him well, andpsrhaps, for that reason, some refer-ence to his life outside the club isdesirable. It was a full life indeed. As teacher, writer, editor, broad-caster, naturalist, conservationist, scout
