If the carmile basis alone was taken the suburban line would, perhaps,be considered unprofitable compared with the usual standard asto receipts per car mile, whereas thecar-hour basis shows that the line isquite a profitable one Another valuable use of the car-hourbasis, as found in analyzing expensesin Camden, is that, being a guide to thelabor cost, it calls attention to the lay-over expenses.
