The cessation of pressure rise and onset of fall may corre- spond to various states of protraction of the proboscis. Exceptionally the pressure rise may continue throughout the process of proboscis retraction. These irregu- larities illustrate the lack of strict coordination between pressure variations and proboscis protraction.
