In Fig. 251 afew irregular shadows are seen scattered in the right kidneyarea which represent markedly retracted and narrow calyces.The true pelvis is represented by an irregular streak, andthe upper ureter is irregularly retracted and dilated andis displaced over the vertebra as the result of tumor en-croachment. The streaks visible in the left kidney area are 264 PYELOGRAPHY caused by intestinal shadows and might be confused withthose of scattered colloidal silver. When the tumor tissue grows toward the pelvis fromeither pole, it may encroach upon the outline of the truepelvis so as to flatten it.
