Areca Lutescens. PALMS. For ornamental and decorative purposes few plants can equal Palms. They succeed finely as pot plants in living rooms, and every year adds to their size and beauty. Filif era or Weeping Palm. Tlais plant needs no petting or skill to grow. It flourishes with any treatment in any location in the house, porch or outside. The leaves are fan-shaped, beautifully cut and draped with a silk-like filament along the segments of the leaves. The plant is a compact grower and will make a grand ornament during Winter. Plants, 15c. £xtra size, 25c. Seed, per packet, 5c. Cocos Weddeliana. This beautiful palm is unquestionably the most elegant and graceful in cultivation. It is admirably adapted for the centers of jardinieres and fern dishes, as it retains its freshness for a longtime, while for dinner-table decoration it is unexcelled, and should be in every collection. Large plants, 12 to 15 inches, 30c. each. Areca Lutescens. One of the handsomest and most useful palms for house culture, to which it adapts itself readily. Once estab- lished it makes a regular growth, and if given a fair amount of light, it will prove sui^erior to very adverse conditions. Its beautiful leaves are pinnate and gracefully arched, rioh shining green, and very firm in texture. The stems "and sheathing petioles are perfectly smooth, as if polished, yellow in color, mottled with black, forming an elegant contrast with the deep green. Price, 15c. Latania Borbonica. The Chinese Fan Palm, from which the palm-leaf fans of commerce are made. The most popular palm in cultivation for decorative work ; stands neglect well and also a considerable amount of cold. If grown in partial shade while young the leaves will be of a richer, darker green. Fine plants, 15c. each. One each of the 4 Palms, 60c.
