(14. August 1959) Dies ist das erste grobe Bild, das vom am 7. August 1959 gestarteten Erdsatelliten Explorer VI aufgenommen wurde. Es zeigt einen sonnenbeschienenen Bereich des Zentralpazifischen Ozeans mit seiner Wolkendecke. Das Bild wurde aufgenommen, als sich der Satellit am 14. August 1959 etwa 17.000 Meilen über der Erdoberfläche befand. Zu dieser Zeit überquerte der Satellit Mexiko. Die Signale wurden an der Überwachungsstation South Point, Hawaii, empfangen. ..
