The Fallopian tubes or oviducts are two conical canals,four or five inches in length, extending from the broad por-tion of the uterus as far as the brim of the pelvis. Whenstraightened, the shape of the tubes resembles a trumpet,the wider portion being the free end. This is surroundedby fringe-like processes called fimbriae. The uterine ex-tremity is very small, scarcely admitting a fine bristle, butan ordinary quill can be inserted at the free end. As before stated, these tubes are envelopedby the broad ligaments, except the funnel shape and fimbriae,which pass beyond the covering, in order to unite, period-ically, with the ovaries. The char-acteristics of the sex are contained in those minute, but stu-pendously wonderful bodies. No other generative organso affects the peculiarly feminine nature.
