STS-133 LAUNCH L-1 LEGO EVENT FOR STUDENTS ON NASA CAUSEWAY 2010-5447

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. -- At SPACEHAB, in Cape Canaveral, members of the STS-101 crew take part in a Crew Equipment Interface Test, which gives them an opportunity to look over equipment and payloads that will fly on the mission. In the foreground at left is Mission Specialist Mary Ellen Weber (Ph.D.), at center is Mission Specialist Edward Tsang Lu; at right is astronaut Marsha Ivins, who is assigned to mission STS-98 and is a veteran of five space flights. Her last flight, STS-81, including docking with the Russian Mir, and carrying the SPACEHAB double module to transfer tons of food and other cargo. On mission STS-101, Space Shuttle Atlantis will also be carrying the SPACEHAB Double Module, which will carry internal logistics and resupply cargo for station outfitting. Launch of Atlantis is scheduled no earlier than April 13, 2000 KSC00pp0035

Looking relaxed and happy one day before launch, the STS-98 crew gather at Launch Pad 39A. From left, they are Pilot Mark Polansky, Commander Ken Cockrell and Mission Specialists Marsha Ivins, Robert Curbeam and Thomas Jones. Behind them can be seen the Fixed Service Structure, with its 80-foot lightning rod, where Space Shuttle Atlantis is poised for launch. This mission marks the seventh Shuttle flight to the International Space Station and the first Shuttle mission of the year. On the mission, the crew will deliver the U.S. Laboratory Destiny to the growing Space Station. Destiny will be attached to the Unity node using the Shuttle’s robotic arm. Three spacewalks are required to complete the planned construction work. The 11-day STS-98 mission is scheduled to launch Feb. 7 at 6:11 p.m. EST, with a planned KSC landing about 1:39 p.m. on Feb. 18 KSC01pp0235
