Virginia Governor George Allen (center white vest) launches the final A-6E Intruder aircraft from the flight deck of aircraft carrier USS GEROGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73). Piloted by US Navy Captain Kolin M. Jan, Commander Carrier Air Wing Seven, Attack Squadron Three Four (VA-34), the aircraft was the last to launch from the deck of George Washington after completing a successful six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea. This was the final deployment for VA-34 flying the historic Intruder aircraft. The squadron will begin training on the F/A-18C Hornet aircraft, and after completing their transition they will re-join the fleet as Strike Fighter Squadron Three Four (VFA-34)
