It was in this hall that the treaty was concluded between the United States and Great Britain putting to an end the dispute arising out of the Civil War over the Battleship Alabama. It was claimed that the vessel had been built by the British for the confederate states and had sunk union boats. A claim for reparation was filed and the dispute settled in this hall.
