Summary

Tesla's Wardenclyffe tower on Long Island in partial stage of demolition. On July 4, 1917 the Smiley Steel Company of New York began demolition of the tower by dynamiting it but it took till September to totally demolish it. Tesla built it in 1901-1903 and sold it to investors as a wireless communication center. He also wanted to demonstrate wireless transmission of electrical energy. Tesla ran out of funding before he could finish it.

Nikola Tesla (1856–1943) Serbian American inventor and engineer who discovered and patented the rotating magnetic field, the basis of most alternating-current machinery. He also developed the three-phase system of electric power transmission. He immigrated to the United States in 1884 and sold the patent rights to his system of alternating-current dynamos, transformers, and motors to George Westinghouse.
