description

Summary

Significance: Structure H is a wood foundation from a demolished wood frame building. The foundation is located on a terrace along the south edge of Horse Thief Draw approximately 1 mile northwest of Superior. The structure consists of the foundation and flooring of a wood frame structure. Considerable scrap lumber representing portions of the walls and roof surround and partially cover the foundation. The foundation is rectangular with the long axis running from east to west. The overall dimensions are 12 feet 0 inches east to west by 5 feet 4 inches north to south. The flooring rests on a foundation of 12 inch x 12 inch milled lumber beams. The flooring consists of 1 inch x 8 inch milled lumber planking laid diagonally to the long axis of the foundation. Thus, the floor boards are oriented from southeast to northwest. At the northwest corner of the foundation a set of short wooden beams have been set parallel to each other. This may represent a platform leading to an opening in the north elevation of the structure. No such opening remains.
