Letter from John R. Dodge, Groton, Mass., to Amos Augustus Phelps, 23 [September] 1839

John R. Dodge writes to Amos A. Phelps about the benefit of having missionaries in Africa in relation to the antislavery cause. For example, missionaries can instruct African chiefs, who are rumored to trade their people with goods, to make changes. Dodge says more missionary work should be done in Africa.
