Letter from George Whipple, New York, to Amos Augustus Phelps, 1847 Feb[ruary] 23
Summary
George Whipple writes Amos A. Phelps regarding missionary matters in Jamaica. He writes, "I was just preparing an article on the Ja Mission and should have been glad to have made a short editorial from your letter..however..I did not get them in season." He writes of Brother Renshaw's desire to return to Jamaica in April. He writes of financial matters connected with the missions. He discusses legislation in Pennsylvania and Delaware as well as current policies in the society to which they belong. He writes, "In the N.Y. Evangelist of the 11th you will see good news from Penn. In the Tribune of this week you will find as good from Delaware. To rejoice now may be like "hallowing before we get out of the woods," and yet it is great cause of rejoicing that such legislation should suceed in paper; we will rejoice whatever may be the final event." He also includes a note from Mr. Paxton on the last page of the letter.
