Letter from Elizabeth B. Gillet, Middlebury, to Amos Augustus Phelps, Feb. 18th 1827

In this letter, Elizabeth B. Gillet thanks Amos A. Phelps for his kind letter, and says she has not forgotten him during the long period of their non-communication. After telling him how she has been keeping track of news about him, she says the reason she declined to keep a correspondence with him was that she was engaged at that time. She confesses she does not write well and does not like to write, but says she will not object to entering into a correspondence with Phelps as friends. She also relates some news about people they know in Farmington, where her father recently visited.
