Salomon de Bray was a Dutch painter, architect and poet who lived in the 17th century. Born in Amsterdam in 1597, he was the son of a prominent city architect. Salomon de Bray studied painting with his father and later with Frans Hals, a famous Dutch portrait painter. De Bray's paintings were mainly historical and biblical scenes, as well as portraits. He was also known for his architectural drawings and designs, which he used in his paintings. His style was influenced by the Italian Baroque and the Dutch Golden Age. In addition to his career as a painter, Salomon de Bray was also an architect and designed several buildings in Amsterdam, including the Westerkerk church. He was also a poet and wrote several poems in Dutch. Salomon de Bray died in Haarlem in 1664 at the age of 67. His legacy lives on through his art, which can be seen in museums around the world, including the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and the Louvre in Paris.
