Summary
Paul Gauguin 1848 – 1903 was a French Post-Impressionist artist. He is best known for his paintings from his time in Tahiti, where he lived for several years. He was heavily influenced by the art of Japan and Africa, and his work was an important precursor to the Fauvist and Expressionist movements. He is one of the most important figures of Post-Impressionism.
