She weighevl 728 DISEASES OF THE DUCTLESS GLANDS. 25 ^/a pounds and was quite stout in proportion to her height. Her head was largein proportion to her body. The lips were thick. The nose flat and depressed betweenthe eyes. The neck was very short. No sign of enlarged thyroid, large blue eyes,teeth in fair condition, complexion dark, hair dry and of a rusty black color.

Hearing, sight, and smell apparently good. Voice not out of the ordinary.The extremities were short and thick, loA^er ones were bow-legged. The ends of thebones were large. The belly was large and its prominence exaggerated by a decidedanterior curvature of the spine. Intelligence was almost nil, temperament very CKKTIXJSM. 729 irritable, does not cry, but becomes very angry. She never asks for food, eats littleand only what is given to her. The bowels were constipated, moving only once intwo days. She never asks to pass stool or water. Had external hsemorrhoids, whichbled occasionally. When awake was constantly sitting. Cannot walk alone andonly a few steps when assisted. She slept well. Pulse was 96 and regular. Has had no treatment for three years. Previous to this time parents had beenall over with
