Albert Goodwin (1845-1932) was a British landscape painter and illustrator. He was born in Maidstone, Kent, and studied at the Royal Academy Schools in London. Goodwin was known for his atmospheric and dreamlike landscapes, often featuring ruins, castles, and other historical sites. He was also a skilled illustrator, creating illustrations for books such as Tennyson's Idylls of the King and Milton's Paradise Lost. Goodwin exhibited his work at the Royal Academy and other major art institutions throughout his career, and was awarded numerous prizes and honors. Today, his paintings are held in collections around the world, including the Tate Gallery in London and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
