Afghan army soldiers move into position during the beginning of Operation Thresher in Trek Nawa, Afghanistan, July 23. India Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, Marines and Afghan soldiers conducted the clearing mission to remove weapons caches, disrupt Taliban activity and interact with the local populace. During the first day of the operation a helicopter crash caused the Marines to temporarily shift their mission and pause the operation. India Company resumed days later and completed the operation July 27.
