Summary
Print shows "an American officer, General Winchester, stands stripped to the waist, his face and body covered with bold patterns in paint: stars, circles, an anchor, &c ..." (Source: George). James Winchester served in the "Additional Army" during the Northwest Campaign from 1812 to 1813 when during the second Battle of the River Raisin, the Natives captured him. He spent some time as a prisoner in Quebec before he was released.
